Want to Stay On Budget? Don't Forget the Parking Permits

Have you ever circled the block over and over again looking for the Ever-Elusive Parking Spot in your neighborhood? We’re going to guess: YES! While lack of parking was traditionally associated with the more densely packed areas such as the North End, Beacon Hill and Downtown, in recent years this has become a “universal” issue for Bostonians. This parking shortage can have a major effect on the cost of your move, if you don’t take the proper steps to procure space for the Moving Truck. Considering that you’re (most likely) paying by the hour, keeping your move as efficient as possible should be a top concern.

Alexe Suciu, Owner of Exela Movers remembers, “We had a small move unloading at the corner of St. Germain and Dalton Street in the Back Bay last summer. The street isn’t too busy, so the customer figured we could just double park. Unfortunately, that was not an option [that day] and our guys had to park on Mass Ave and walk about 500 feet to the other end of St. Germain. It had to be one of the hottest days of the year, and it added considerable time to what should have been a quick job.”

If parking for the Moving Truck (at least 40 feet/ two car lengths) is not readily available in front of your residence, it WILL add time to the move (and cost to your final bill). Obtaining Street Occupancy Permits for your Moving Truck has never been easier; Follow our Guide below to ensure that you have done your part to help your move go smoothly—Your Movers, and your bank account will thank you!
