How to Pack Electronics for an Office Move

Electronics are one of the most important things to pack properly during an office move. A few simple tips will keep them in good working order before, during and after the process of moving your company’s office to a new place.

Make a List

Make a list of all of your company’s electronic devices. This way you know exactly what you have on hand before you move.

Backup That Data

It’s easy for important data to be lost during any move. Take time to backup all the data on each of your office electronic devices. Store this data separately. That will ensure your important data is kept on hand even if something goes wrong during the move.

Remove All Batteries and Plugs

Batteries contain chemicals that can leak if improperly stored. Place all of your electronics batteries in separate and well marked boxes. Plugs, cords and other externals can be easily damaged or even lost during a move. These are other items you’ll want to separate out during the move.

Clean Your Electronics

Moving electronics from one place to the next often means exposing them to the elements. That’s one of several reasons why you’ll want to clean all of your electronics before you pack them. Wipe all surfaces clean. Place protective coverings on top. That way, you can start off your new office space on a bright, clean note once you’ve unpacked.

Choose the Correct Sized Boxes and Packing Materials

Each electronic item that you are moving needs the right sized box. It also needs the best possible packing materials. Allow no more than a quarter inch in give around the sides of the box. That will ensure a snug but not too tight ride during transport. Bubble wrap is an ideal packing material for your office move. It offers a lot of protection should something shift during the move.
