Spotlight on Medford, MA

Visitors to Medford, Massachusettes will find many entertaining attractions. This city was incorporated in 1892 and has been home to notable industrial companies and historic events. The city is just 6.7 miles northwest of downtown Boston. The border of Medford and Somerville is home to Tufts University. Medford has over 300 acres of open spaces and is proud to support a diverse mix of small and large businesses, non-profits, and community organizations. The city has approximately 60,000 residents and some of the best schools in the state. 

Middlesex Fells Reservation

This is a state park partially located in Medford. Visitors can let their dogs run in the off-leash area and rent boats for sightseeing. It is also a great place to hike, bike, or fish. It is open from sunrise to sunset and is transit accessible. It is also wheelchair accessible. 

The Harvard Museum of Natural History

This museum is in Cambridge, less than four miles from Medford. The museum was established in 1998 and offers many exhibitions about animals and minerals. It also has glass exhibitions, special events, films, public lectures, classes for children and adults, and online exhibits. 

Tufts University

The Tufts University Art Galleries offer many performances, public exhibitions, lectures, and residency opportunities. The major exhibits are curated four times a year and are focused on contemporary artworks. You will find individual and group shows at these galleries. The galleries curate the exhibit spaces for the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts in Boston. They also curate spaces for the Shirley and Alex Aidekman Arts Center in Medford.
