With 100+ towns and cities comprising Metro Boston, it’s hard to know where to start your home search–especially if you’re relocating from Out-of-State. To give another frame of reference, we’re Spotlighting some of these great local areas…

About 15 miles South of Boston, the Town of Weymouth (which is technically a city) is considered the most affordable on the South Shore and sometimes falls under the radar. From Hingham south, a daily commute to Boston seems immoderate, however, Weymouth is perfectly situated for convenient commuting via the Expressway or one of the 3 MBTA station stops (2 on the Greenbush Line, one on the Kingston/ Plymouth Line).

The land mass expands mostly inland except for a few-mile section of jagged coastline. Rivers on either side of North Weymouth extend the inland tributaries out to sea, creating the borders between neighboring Quincy (to the West) and Hingham (to the East) before converging into Hingham Bay. In fact, there is no shortage of waterfront nor outdoor space to enjoy: Weymouth boasts over 40 parks, playgrounds and recreational areas; 2 town beaches and 3 harbor islands.

There are four “village squares” in Weymouth, but the largest, Jackson Square is in East Weymouth which is considered the Center. Jackson Square is home to a mix of local businesses, unique shops, restaurants and public spaces.

From beautiful Queen-Annes, Victorians and Colonial Revival Homes scattered throughout historic neighborhoods; to the time-honored tradition of turning the local herring migration into a spectator sport; to hosting a Major League Rugby team (The New England Free Jacks)–Weymouth is a down-to-earth South Shore town that’s not to be overlooked!
